Make a Lasting Gift of Hope

A charitable bequest is one of the easiest and most flexible ways that you can leave a gift to LCS Northwest that will make a lasting impact. Bequests, planned gifts and endowed gifts to LCS Northwest are administered by the Lutheran Community Services Northwest Foundation. The Foundation is overseen by a dedicated group of trustees representing our church and community stakeholders, and exists for the sole benefit of LCS and those served by our programs. Your gift will be invested and the earnings used to support LCS Northwest programs. In this way your gift will keep on giving and help ensure the financial stability of our agency in coming years.

With your bequest or endowment, you will be part of the Circle of Hope, a distinguished group of like-minded individuals committed to seeing future generations have health, justice and hope.

“We have witnessed the positive impact this agency has on the lives of so many across the Pacific Northwest and are thankful for the people who make social services their passion. Including the work of LCS in our estate planning is one way to extend the blessings we have received.” — Gordon & Donna Merseth, Portland, OR

Benefits of a bequest:

  • Receive an estate tax charitable deduction

  • Reduce the burden of taxes on your family

  • Leave a lasting legacy

How a bequest works:

A bequest is one of the easiest gifts to make. With the help of an attorney, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift to be made to family, friends or LCS Northwest as part of your estate plan, or you can make a bequest using a beneficiary designation form.

Here are some of the ways to leave a bequest to Lutheran Community Services Northwest:

  • Include a bequest to LCS Northwest in your will or trust

  • Designate LCS Northwest as a full, partial or contingent beneficiary of your retirement account (IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or pension)

  • Remember LCS Northwest as beneficiary of other financial accounts (custody or bank accounts, CDs, etc.)

  • Name LCS Northwest as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy

As you work with your financial planner, attorney, accountant or insurance specialist, please ask them how you can include LCS Northwest in your estate plan. Feel free to share the following language with your advisory or attorney to provide health, justice and hope to our community in the Pacific Northwest for decades to come:

To bequest a percentage (%) or dollar amount ($) to: Lutheran Community Services Northwest:

“I hereby give, devise, and bequeath ____________ to LUTHERAN COMMUNITY SERVICES NORTHWEST, a nonprofit organization currently located at 4040 South 188th Street, SeaTac, WA 98188, Federal Tax ID #93-0386860, for Lutheran Community Service Northwest’s general use and purposes.”

Please provide the appropriate language above to your attorney for inclusion in your Last Will and Testament / Trust Agreement or Estate Plan.

“My will is going to send a message - a powerful one that shows what I cared about. It is a wonderful, satisfying feeling to know that part of my legacy will be providing hope, love, and caring to future generations.” — Vera Fink, Boise, ID

Eight Ways You Can Leave a Lasting Legacy

  • Consider using assets for your charitable gift. Some examples are stocks, bonds, CDs, real estate, or vehicles.
